Chile Sin Carne

About

I’m Nick, or Jim, I get called both, I live in Chile right now, working for these guys, before that I was in Kenya working for these guys but when I started this douchey blog I lived in India, working for these guys. It is called Snake Surprise because of a scene in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” have you seen it? There’s this one part where Indiana Jones and his stock ethnic sidekick Short Round and shrill Spielberg-bride girlfriend Willie go to this palace in India – I feel I should mention Willie worked in Shanghai before landing in India – and the Indians, disgusting heathens that they are, proceed to serve a medley of unappetising dishes. The first dish is a big snake, which the waiter introduces as “Snake Surprise“. What’s the surprise, Willie whispers. The waiter cuts open the snake and OMG it’s full of writhing baby snakes.

(I could only find it in Italian)
And because the internet is amazing, here is the whole dinner scene with Punjabi MC’s best song “Jogi” playing over it:

Ah, internet. You sure are weird and wonderful.

After Snake Surprise they get served chilled monkey brains, beetles, and eyeball soup. Even though India is the only country in the world that is majority vegetarian. I thought the words “Snake Surprise” (and half of that movie) perfectly encapsulated the Western view of Indians as bug-eating monsters.

While I don’t live in India anymore, Snake Surprise is still a funny name, Indians are still hot, and I can’t change the URL of the site anyway, so. Shut up.

If you like this blog, or if you don’t like it and would rather read something better (which is more likely) you should visit my favourite websites that I’m constantly ripping off ,  www.filmdrunk.com and www.cracked.com, those sites are awesome.
